Swan/Mundaring Day 9: Road, Resort and Rockin’ Time

Today we went for quite the drive from Sagay to La Carlota, which took 3 hours. On our way through Bacolod we stopped and had some Maccas for breakfast. There were hash browns and hotcakes staked so high, they looked like they almost toppled. I however took an apple pie, chocolate pie and large coke for breakfast which was amazing.

After our quick (not really) stop we were back on the road and went the full way back to Casa Lim for lunch. We had Lechon (a whole pig on the spit) for lunch with Rice, chicken and a noodle dish which was quite the feast.

Once lunch was said and done, we dropped off our bags at out accommodation and made our way to the resort. At the resort we swam in such a nice pool with a waterfall that looked like it had water coming from the mountain. It was quite cold when we got in but walking around after turned out to be warmer than anyone expected.

After being at the resort we headed back and chilled out at out accommodation and got ready for dinner. Once we were all ready, we made our way to the mayor’s office where we danced to music being performed by drummers. There were also quite a lot of kids who joined in and we had a great time dancing the macarena.

We were re-joined by Ellenbrook for the first time since we helped with the basketball court which is quite nice, it’s always good to see them again. For dinner there was another Lechon with rice, beef and another kind of chicken. There was also a desert that looked like macaroni and was nice and sweet.

As I write this there is live music which is really good. It is however incredibly loud and with a headache it isn’t going to well.

Looking back on everything, it’s been quite an adventure. I say this as this is the last student blog that you will see from Swan. It has come full loop as I did the first one on Saturday. So reporting back after a week, this has been a once in a lifetime opportunity for most of us Swannies and I would do it all again in a heartbeat. But like, I miss my cat quite a lot.

Can’t wait to get back but would stay forever if I could.

A message from Mr Beacham

Dear Parents,

Thank you for entrusting your children into our care for the last 9 days. It has been a pleasure working with them and seeing them interact with the culture over here. Their growth in maturity and kindness has increased day after day as the trip has progressed.

As we look to head back to Perth please take the time to read through the re-entry document you were given at the last pre-trip meeting to help your child integrate into life back in Perth.

Monday will be a day of shopping and a lot of travelling. With our final flight landing at Perth International Airport (T1) on Tuesday morning at 5:20am (SQ225). Your children will be looking forward to seeing you then and updating you on their adventures.

Mr Beacham.

  1. I have loved reading all the blogs from each group and can’t wait for Tasma to return to hopefully continue with the stories. Thank you Mr Beacham and crew for this amazing opportunity for our young adults to partake in.
